Great news for Albertans considering an electric vehicle — the Federal Government has launched the Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP), offering rebates of up to $5,000 toward the purchase or lease of an eligible battery-electric or fuel cell vehicle, and up to $2,500 for plug-in hybrids.

The rebate is applied at the dealership, so there’s no extra paperwork for buyers. Eligibility is based on the vehicle’s final transaction value (under $50,000) and country of manufacture, though Canadian-built vehicles are exempt from the price cap.

The program runs from 2026 through 2030, with rebate amounts decreasing each year — so the sooner you act, the more you save.

We’ve updated our EV Incentives page with the full rebate schedule, eligibility details, and links to Transport Canada’s official program information.
