Here is some math that shows that the Alberta grid should have the capacity to charge the vast majority of cars currently on the road.

Of course, the grid won’t have to charge a million EVs tomorrow, but this gives comfort that when a million+ EVs are on our roads, the grid will have had plenty of time to prepare. We recognize that there is work to be done – community transformers may need to be upgraded as they age, etc. No different than has been occurring over the decades as electricity usage has grown.
